Steffen Scheller

Steffen Scheller (born November 27, 1969 in Koethen , Halle district , GDR ) is a German politician and municipal electoral officer . From 2006 he was mayor and 1st  alderman of the city of Brandenburg an der Havel . After Lord Mayor Dietlind Tiemann moved into the 19th Bundestag on October 24, 2017, he was the mayor of the city. He has been elected mayor since March 2, 2018.

Life

Scheller attended the Polytechnische Oberschule in Köthen from 1976 to 1986 and then from 1986 to 1988 the Extended Oberschule , where he passed the Abitur . After completing school he did military service first in Bad Düben and then in Brandenburg an der Havel at the Brandenburg-Briest airfield . During his time in the army who are still in the NVA the GDR began and ended in the armed forces in 1993, it was used in parachute emergency services and in supply area.

Following his military service, Scheller completed an apprenticeship as a banker at the Mittelbrandenburgische Sparkasse in Potsdam . After working primarily in the lending business, he was most recently responsible in the back office for corporate customers and the public sector. During his time at the Sparkasse, Scheller studied banking with a focus on banking.

In March 2005 he moved to the city of Brandenburg an der Havel. The city council elected him the city's future treasurer in November 2004. In addition to the function of treasurer, Scheller also headed the finance and economics department. On October 25, 2006, the city council elected him on the proposal of Lord Mayor Dietlind Tiemann as 1st alderman and mayor and thus successor to Norbert Langerwisch, who was voted out in 2005 . On August 27, 2014, he was re-elected for an eight-year term. After Dietlind Tiemann was elected to the Bundestag , Scheller was mayor from October 2017. On February 25, 2018, he won the election for mayor. He took office on March 2nd.

Scheller is chairman of the supervisory board of StWB Stadtwerke Brandenburg GmbH & Co KG, Brandenburg an der Havel; Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Städtisches Klinikum Brandenburg GmbH, Brandenburg an der Havel; Supervisory board of the Verkehrsverbund Berlin-Brandenburg GmbH, Berlin. He is also a member of the Lions Club Brandenburg.

Scheller has been a member of the CDU since 2003 . It is organized in the Brandenburg an der Havel district association.

Scheller is married and has two daughters.
