Reinhold Sallbach
Heinrich Eduard Reinhold Sallbach (born January 8, 1831 in Bottschow , † December 21, 1895 in Charlottenburg ) was a Prussian general of the artillery .
Life
origin
He was the son of the landowner Eduard Sallbach († 1816) and his wife Emilie, née Schroer.
Military career
Sallbach graduated from the Realgymnasium in Frankfurt (Oder) and joined the 3rd Artillery Brigade of the Prussian Army as a gunner on February 24, 1849 . For further training he was commanded at the United Artillery and Engineering School in 1850/53 and has since advanced to secondary lieutenant . On October 20, 1853, Sallbach was appointed artillery officer and taught mathematics at the regimental school. On October 15, 1858, he was commanded as an assistant to the artillery testing commission. Left in this command, he was transferred to the 8th Artillery Regiment on September 13, 1859 when he was promoted to Prime Lieutenant . In mid-April 1864, Sallbach was assigned to the Ministry of War and, with his promotion to captain on July 30, 1864, transferred to the artillery department of the ministry. In this position he rose to major in June 1869 .
On the occasion of the war against France in 1870/71 Sallbach was commanded as adjutant to the staff of the siege artillery in front of Paris (southern front) for the duration of the mobile relationship . Here he worked during the siege of the French capital and during the fighting on Mont Valérien . Awarded both classes of the Iron Cross , Sallbach was briefly commander of the 1st Battalion in the Brandenburg Foot Artillery Regiment No. 3 (General Feldzeugmeister) in Mainz from February 11, 1873 to June 8, 1874 . He was then commissioned to lead the foot artillery regiment No. 15 in Strasbourg . On June 23, 1874 Sallbach was appointed regimental commander, and in this capacity on September 19, 1874 to lieutenant colonel , and on March 22, 1877 Colonel promoted. Under position à la suite of the regiment followed from January 14, 1879 to October 22, 1880 a position as commander of the 3rd foot artillery brigade in Mainz. On October 23, 1880 Sallbach was appointed President of the Artillery Examination Commission and in this capacity was also a member of the General Artillery Committee. At the same time he acted from mid-December 1880 as a member of the study commission of the War Academy . Promoted to major general in early August 1883 , Sallbach received the Grand Cross of the Franz Joseph Order on June 23, 1887 and was promoted to lieutenant general on July 7, 1888 . Three months later he was released from his position at the Military Academy. For health reasons Sallbach took a three-month vacation in April 1889. After his return, he was briefly posted to the War Ministry, where he was entrusted with running the business as director of the provisional weapons department. With the formation of this department, Sallbach was appointed director. However, he gave up this post after a short time and became inspector general of the foot artillery on April 12, 1890 . Sallbach received the Order of the Crown, 1st Class on January 18, 1891 and was promoted to General of the Artillery on September 2, 1892. Due to his poor health he submitted his departure and was put up for disposition on June 10, 1893, with the award of the Red Eagle Order, 1st Class with Oak Leaves . He was buried in the Invalidenfriedhof .

Sallbach married Franziska Juliane Richter (1834–1913) on September 26, 1855 in Berlin. The two daughters Wally (* 1856) and Margarete (* 1858) emerged from the marriage.
