The United Nations Security Council Resolution 1723 is a resolution that the United Nations Security Council has adopted unanimously at its 5574th meeting on November 28 of 2006. It is a resolution under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations . The Security Council refers to its previous resolutions on Iraq . The text of the resolution was introduced by Denmark , Japan , Slovakia , the United Kingdom and the United States .

The resolution extends the mandate of the Multinational Armed Forces (MNF-I) to December 31, 2007 , with reference to resolutions 1483 , 1511 , 1546 and 1637 . The resolution also extends the duration of the development fund (paragraph 20 of resolution 1483) and the use of proceeds from the sale of crude oil, oil products and natural gas and their monitoring by international observers.

The resolution requires the United States to submit quarterly reports on the situation in Iraq and explicitly mentions that the mandate will be reviewed by June 15, 2007 at the latest and end early if the Iraqi government so requests.
