Reto Burgermeister (born September 7, 1975 in Pfäffikon ZH ) is a former Swiss cross-country skier .

Career

Burgermeister, who started for the ski club on the Bachtel , ran his first individual World Cup race in Davos in December 1995 , which he finished classically in 81st place over 30 km. At the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano , he finished 49th over 50 km freestyle and sixth place with the relay. The following year he came in the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1999 in Ramsau am Dachstein on the 47th place over 10 km classic and on the 32nd place in the subsequent pursuit. In March 1999 he got his first world cup points in Falun with the 28th place over 30 km classic. In the 2000/01 season he reached in Soldier Hollow over 15 km classic and in Borlänge over 10 km freestyle with the ninth place each his first top ten placements in the World Cup. His best placings at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2001 in Lahti were 18th place over 15 km classic and eighth place with the relay. At the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City , tenth place with the relay and ninth place over 15 km classic were his best results. In January 2003 he came on the podium for the first time in the World Cup with second place in the 15 km mass start race in Oberhof . At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Fiemme Valley , he took 21st place over 15 km classic, tenth place in the 30 km mass start race and fifth place with the relay. In the 2003/04 season he reached three top ten positions in the World Cup. He achieved second place in the skiathlon in Oberstdorf and at the end of the season 31st place in the overall world cup and 22nd place in the distance world cup. These were his best overall results in the World Cup. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2005 in Oberstdorf, he ran to 15th place with the relay. In the following year he achieved 59th place in the skiathlon at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , 15th place with Christoph Eigenmann in the team sprint and seventh place with the relay. In the 2006/07 season he came in 24th place in the Tour de Ski 2006/07 . At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2007 in Sapporo , he achieved 40th place in the 50 km mass start race and tenth place with the relay. In February 2009 he finished 50th over 15 km classic at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Liberec . He ran his last World Cup race in January 2010 in Otepää , which he placed on 38th place over 15 km classic. After his career, he coached Russian cross-country skiers from 2011 to 2016.

Burgermeister became Swiss champion in the pursuit in 2001 and 2004, in 2006 and 2008 over 15 km and in 2003 over 30 km.
