Rex Samuel Sellers , MNZM (born November 11, 1950 in Nelson ) is a former New Zealander sailor .
successes
Rex Sellers participated in four Olympic Games . 1984 in Los Angeles he completed the regatta in the boat class Tornado together with Chris Timms with 14 points in first place, after they had finished six of the seven races in the top three. They became Olympic champions ahead of the US and Australian boats . At the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul , the two won the silver medal behind the French and in front of the Brazilian boat with two wins and 35 total points. In 1992 he just missed another medal win in Barcelona with Brian Jones in fourth place, four years later Sellers and Jones did not get past 15th place in Atlanta .
At the end of 2009 he was named a member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for his sporting achievements .
