Fernando León Boissier (born May 28, 1966 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria ) is a former Spanish sailor .
successes
Fernando León took part in the Olympic Games four times . With Francisco Sánchez , he just missed a medal win in the 470 dinghy in 1988 in Seoul . In 1992 he started in Barcelona in Soling , with which he finished the competition in sixth place. Among his two crew members was Felipe VI. Four years later , he took first place in the Tornado boat class in Atlanta , after he and José Luis Ballester always finished among the top five boats in nine of the eleven races and finished second three times. They were Olympic champions with 30 points ahead of the Australian and Brazilian boats . The Sydney Olympics in 2000 ended León and Ballester in ninth place. At world championships , León and Ballester secured five joint medals: in 1994 they first won the title in Båstad , before winning two silver and two bronze medals each in the following four years.
