Reyare Thomas (born November 23, 1987 in Chaguanas ) is a sprinter from Trinidad and Tobago .
Athletic career
Reyare Thomas gained her first international experience at the CARIFTA Games 2006 in Les Abymes , where she was eliminated in the first round in the 200-meter run and with the Trinidadian-Tobacco 4 x 100 meter relay in 45.72 seconds won the bronze medal. Then she also won at the Central America and Caribbean Junior Championships (CAC) in Port of Spain with 45.75 s bronze with the relay. In 2007 she reached the NACAC championships in San Salvador over 200 meters to the semi-finals, in which she was eliminated with 24.21 s. She then took part in the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro and was eliminated there with 24.10 s in the first round. In 2009 she won the bronze medal at the CAC Championships in Havana in 23.61 s, as well as in 43.75 s with the 4 x 100 meter relay. With the relay she later took part in the World Championships in Berlin , where she finished sixth in 43.43 s. In 2010, she retired from the CAC games in Mayagüez in the 100-meter run in the first round and finished fifth in the relay in 45.01 s.
At the CAC Championships in Morelia she was eliminated over 100 meters in the preliminary run and won the silver medal in the relay competition in 43.67 s. Then she retired at the World Championships in Moscow with 43.01 s in the run-up to the 4-by-100-meter relay . At the IAAF World Relays 2014 in the Bahamas , she secured third place in 42.66 s and did not finish with the 4 x 200 meter relay. At the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in August she reached the semi-finals over 200 meters, in which she was eliminated with 23.35 s and came with the relay from Trinidad and Tobago in 44.78 s in eighth place. At the World Relays 2015 she finished fifth in 42.88 s and was seventh over 200 meters in 23.32 s at the Pan American Games in Toronto and did not finish with the relay. She then won the bronze medal with the relay in 44.24 s at the NACAC Championships in San José and was eighth in the 100 meters in 11.54 s. At the World Championships in Beijing , she made it to the semi-finals in the 200-meter competition and won the bronze medal in the 4-by-100-meter relay in 42.03 s.
In 2016 she qualified for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where she was eliminated in the 200-meter run with 22.97 seconds in the lead . At the IAAF World Relays 2017 , she came fourth in 1: 32.63 minutes with the 4 x 200 meter relay. In 2018 she again took part in the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast and was seventh in the 100 meter competition in 11.51 s. In addition, she took fourth place with the relay in 43.50 s. She then won the silver medal at the Central America and Caribbean Games in Barranquilla in 43.61 s and finished eighth in the NACAC Championships in Toronto in 23.73 s.
In 2008 and 2012, Thomas was the Trinidadian-Tobacco champion in the 200-meter run, and in 2012 and 2018 with the 4-by-100-meter relay. She graduated from Abilene Christian University with a degree in social sciences .
