The diesel-hydraulic shunting locomotives Gmf 4/4 242 and 243 of the Rhaetian Railway (RhB) were put into operation in 1991. They were used for construction trains during the construction of the Vereina tunnel . Today the Gmf 4/4 243 is stationed in Klosters-Platz for the shunting service and for the Vereina fire-fighting and rescue train, which consists of a medical vehicle, an equipment vehicle and a fire-fighting vehicle. The Gmf 4/4 242 is based in Landquart . The locomotives are best for hauling loads over long distances at low speeds .
