Richard Reile

Richard Reile (born May 10, 1907 in Munich ; † July 23, 1979 ) was a philologist, entrepreneur and local politician. He was from 1945 to 1946 District Administrator of the district Tauberbischofsheim and in 1946 a member of the provisional parliament of Württemberg-Baden .

Richard Reile was born on May 10, 1907 in Munich as the son of a teacher. He obtained his Abitur with a focus on classical philology in 1925 at the Maximiliansgymnasium in Munich , before studying philosophy at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich (LMU) from 1925 to 1928 . He did his doctorate on the "Philosophy of Augustine". From 1928 to 1934 Reile worked as an assistant and lecturer at the Philosophical Faculty of the LMU, and since 1932 as a full assistant to the rank of government councilor. After he was released from civil service on March 1, 1934, he worked from 1934 to 1941 as a technical employee at the Wacker company in Burghausen , before becoming managing director of Vigomma GmbH in Munich in 1941 .

Between 1941 and 1945 Reile was drafted for military service in World War II.

In the post-war period, on July 1, 1945, Reile was appointed District Administrator of the Tauberbischofsheim district by the American military government , and this activity continued until 1946. During Reile's tenure as district administrator, a total of 22,509 displaced persons from areas beyond the Oder-Neisse border , Hungary and the Sudetenland in the Tauberbischofsheim district were accommodated until the end of 1946 . A further 10,801 displaced persons found a new home in the neighboring district of Mergentheim . After tough negotiations with the American military administration under the leadership of Lieutenant Zecca, the Reinhardshof was returned to the city of Wertheim in order to set up a transit camp for those who were expelled from the homeland. In cooperation with Inspector Grosch from the district self-administration, Reile succeeded in requesting construction material for the Wertheim transit camp through the Agriculture Office in Karlsruhe in the amount of 130,000 Reichsmarks .

From 1946 Reile worked as a license holder for a newspaper. In the same year he also became a member of the Provisional People's Representation for Württemberg-Baden . This was the forerunner of the Constituent Assembly, which was freely elected on June 30, 1946 .
