The Riesa paddle steamer was built in the Blasewitz shipyard in 1863 . The ship was laid with the hull number 7 on the keel .

The time until 1919

After commissioning as a smooth-deck steamer , the ship drove for the United Saxon-Bohemian Steamship , which was converted into the Saxon-Bohemian Steamship Company (SBDG) in March 1867 .

In order to avoid the access of the Kingdom of Prussia , the ship was moved to Theresienstadt during the Austro-Prussian War in May 1866 .

In 1880 the paddle wheels were widened. In 1883 the ship received a new two-flame tube suitcase boiler from the Saxon Steamship and Mechanical Engineering Company .

In autumn 1918 the ship was due to difficult economic conditions at the end of the First World War, launched on 3 March 1919 20,000 Mark to the shipping company Otto Krietsch in Magdeburg sold. It was painted black and named Magdeburg .

The time after the sale

The ship was probably not used here. It was sold to Hermann Steffens in Magdeburg in June 1919. In April 1920 it was sold to August Horstmann in Wittenberg and was used here under the name Willy . Hermann Pohl from Wittenberg bought it in November 1920. Karl Krümmel bought it in July 1921 and it was used in the Memel region . In 1923 it was registered as Liūtas in Kaunas . The ship could still be recognized by its black paint. During a renovation, some of the windows in the aft ship were replaced by portholes . The further whereabouts are unknown. Probably the same career followed as with Saxonia (II) .

According to another account, a Christopher Westphalen from Harburg bought the ship in 1922 and scrapped it in 1923.

The steam engine

The steam engine and the first two-flame tube suitcase boiler were built by Escher Wyss & Co. in Zurich . It was an oscillating low-pressure two-cylinder twin steam engine with an output of 120 hp.
