Rüdiger "Ritchie" Barton (born March 3, 1954 in Weferlingen ) is a keyboardist and composer for the German rock band Silly . He is also a well-known music producer and studio musician .

Life

Barton began to gain musical experience early on. At the age of six he was already a member of his school's fanfare parade . Later he joined a youth band, in which he was a member for years, and played many different instruments ( percussion , trombone , trumpet ).

Barton took piano lessons at the age of eight and founded a school band at the age of 13, in which, however, he first appeared as a guitarist . After a while he took over the function of organist and pianist .

At the Magdeburg music school "Georg Philipp Telemann" he began evening classes in 1971 in the subjects of piano and aural and theory training. During this time he founded his first amateur band Quintessenz , in which Gisbert Piatkowski and Bernd Schilanski also played. The group achieved successes in a number of youth competitions.

After completing his military service , Barton began studying dance and light music in 1976, majoring in piano at the Liszt School of Music Weimar . Just one year later he joined the professional band Magdeburg as a keyboard player , which had just separated from Klaus Weigert and Hans-Peter Dohanetz. Soon afterwards, the first own songs were produced in the Berlin radio studios. After five years of membership in Magdeburg , Barton and Gisbert Piatkowski moved to City from Georgi Gogow upon request . This also went hand in hand with his move from Magdeburg to East Berlin .

In a round telecast in Halle in 1981 learned Barton singer Tamara Danz know from the band Silly. The two soon became a couple. After constant arguments between the City members, Barton left the band.

At the request of the founding members Mathias Schramm and Thomas Fritzsching and due to his growing interest in Silly's music, Barton joined the band in 1982. Doesn't anyone dance boogie during the production of Silly's first long-playing record ? he had already worked as a guest musician. He shaped the coming Silly years decisively; For example, he composed the successful song Bataillon d'amour .

At the same time as Silly, he first started producing other musicians and bands in 1990 with Tamara Danz and Uwe Hassbecker . As part of the team, they produced, among other things, “ Gundermann & Seilschaft ”. At the same time, Barton began to work increasingly as a studio musician. For example, he played various instruments with Die Ärzte , Ulla Meinecke and Gerhard Gundermann .

After the production and release of the Silly album Hurensöhne , Danz, Barton and Hassbecker decided to set up their own studio, which was named "DanzmusikStudios" and has been in existence since 1994. East-Blues-Experience , City, Gundermann, Karat , Tanzwut and many more have already produced their CDs here.

Until the death of the Silly singer Tamara Danz on July 22, 1996, Barton worked as the band's composer and keyboardist. After the death of Danz, with whom he lived together until 1986 and then in friendship, the band temporarily came to a standstill.

After a long absence from the stage, Barton, like his Silly colleagues Hassbecker and Jäcki Reznicek , has been a member of the Joachim Witt band since 2000 . They went on tour with Joachim Witt, who made the Silly song Bataillon d'amour known in the West through his interpretation, to his album Bayreuth 2 .

In summer 2003 the three Silly members were on tour with the JUMP Arena Band - a project to support young, promising talents from Germany.

Since autumn 2005 Barton can be seen again on stage with Silly. The Silly core line-up Barton, Hassbecker, Reznicek toured with the sons Daniel Hassbecker and Sebastian Reznicek and guests such as Anja Krabbe , IC Falkenberg , Angelika Weiz , Ulla Meinecke and Ingo York , Katy Karrenbauer , Dirk Zöllner , Joachim Witt, Wolfgang Niedecken , Michael Nass , AnNa R. von Rosenstolz , Stefanie and Thomas von Silbermond and Anna Loos with great success through Germany.

In 2006 he went on the "Electro-Acoustic Tour" with Silly and Anna Loos. In 2010 the studio album "Alles Rot" was released with Loos, who is now a permanent singer of the band. Barton contributed about half of the compositions.
