Positions

In connection with an honor killing trial, Leicht argued in 2006 that in criminal law “only those who can be personally proven to have committed an act beyond all reasonable doubt ” are to be punished, but with regard to the right of residence, the burden of proof lies with a foreigner, Knows the laws of the country, wants to respect and will respect them in the future ”. Leicht demanded that a discretionary expulsion be made easier "if, through facts, foreigners offer serious indications that they roughly or permanently refuse to be included in public policy ."

In 2013, Leicht spoke out in favor of interviewing Edward Snowden in Russia. Asylum in Germany should not be granted because Snowden is not being politically persecuted; To grant him a right of residence is not in the German interest.

In 2014, Leicht sharply criticized the former Foreign Minister Hans-Dietrich Genscher for statements on the Ukraine conflict. Genscher had questioned the sense of sanctions and asked for understanding for the Russian position.
