Robert Philip Reed (born June 11, 1959 in Boston , USA ) is an American clergyman and Roman Catholic auxiliary bishop in Boston .

Life

Robert Reed attended Saint John Preparatory School in Danvers , Massachusetts . He studied Philosophy and Catholic Theology at the Saint John Seminary in Brighton and then as an alumne of the Pontifical North America College at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome , where he obtained the Baccalaureat in Catholic Theology in 1984 . In 1985 he also obtained a Masters in Catholic Theology from the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas in Rome and in 2012 a Masters in Broadcast Administration from Boston University . Reed received the sacrament of ordination for the Archdiocese of Boston on July 6, 1985 .

From 1985 to 1990 Robert Reed was parish vicar in the Immaculate Conception Parish in Malden and from 1990 to 1994 in the Saint Catherine of Siena Parish in Norwood . He then became pastor of Saint Matthew Parish in Dorchester and in 1997 pastor of Saint Theresa of Avila Parish in Roxbury . In addition, Reed was a member of the Clergy Personnel Board from 1992 to 1997 and director of the Archdiocese of Boston radio station from 1993 to 1998 . From 1998 to 1999 Reed was parish vicar in the All Saints Parish in Haverhill . In 1999 he became pastor of the Holy Ghost Parish in Whitman . In 2005 Robert Reed became director of Catholic TV in Watertown . From 2013 to 2015 he was also the interim president of iCatholic Media . Since 2015 Reed has also been secretary of the Catholic Media Group / BCTV in Braintree .

On 3 June 2016 it appointed Pope Francis to the titular bishop of Sufar and auxiliary bishop in Boston. The Archbishop of Boston, Seán Patrick Cardinal O'Malley OFMCap , ordained him and Mark O'Connell, who was appointed with him, episcopal on August 24 of the same year . Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Portland , Robert Deeley , and the Boston Auxiliary Bishop Arthur Kennedy .
