Roger Alexander Stilz (born March 25, 1977 in St. Gallen ) is a former Swiss - German football player and football coach . Since May 2016 he has been the sporting director of the youth management center at FC St. Pauli .
Career as a player
Stilz made his debut at the age of 17 with the then Swiss third division club FC Rorschach in the men's division. As a result, he completed around 130 second division games in Switzerland and six European Cup games for the Liechtenstein club FC Vaduz playing in Switzerland . With FC Baden , SC Kriens and FC Vaduz, he took part in the promotion to the highest Swiss league. In 2004 he moved to Hamburg for Altonaer FC from 1893 , where he played three seasons. From 2007 to 2013 Stilz ran for SC Victoria Hamburg until he ended his career.
Career as a coach
For the 2009/10 season, Stilz was assistant coach at SC Victoria Hamburg in addition to his work as a player . He played the second half of the 2011/2012 season there as a player-coach. From 2007 to 2013 Stilz also headed the youth department at SC Victoria Hamburg. Under his leadership, the department grew from ten to 35 teams and the association received the Uwe Seeler Prize in 2010/2011 . For the 2013/14 season he switched to the Bundesliga club Hamburger SV as assistant coach , where he initially signed a contract until the end of the season. There, Stilz assisted a total of three head coaches: first Thorsten Fink , after his dismissal Bert van Marwijk , from February 17, 2014 Mirko Slomka . After the season, Stilz left the club at his own request after his contract expired. On June 5, 2014 it was announced that Stilz will join Valérien Ismaël as an assistant coach at 1. FC Nürnberg . He signed a contract with the club until June 2016. In November 2014, Ismaël and Stilz were released in Nuremberg. Stilz then completed the football teacher training course at the Hennes-Weisweiler Academy , which he graduated in March 2016, and thus acquired the UEFA Pro license.
In May 2016 he took over the position of sporting director of the youth management center of FC St. Pauli .
education
Stilz completed his primary school teacher training in Switzerland . He then studied German language and literature and history during his active football career in Zurich and Hamburg, and completed his master's degree in 2007. Subsequently, in addition to his involvement in football, he also worked as a copywriter and journalist (including Die Welt & Welt am Sonntag ) from Hamburg .
