Rolf Konow

Rolf Konow (born July 22, 1946 in Copenhagen ) is a Danish photographer and actor . He was best known as a still photographer in Danish and international film and television productions.

Life

Konow completed an apprenticeship as an advertising photographer at Guldbrandsen Fotogtafi from 1964 to 1968 . He then worked as a freelance photographer until the Danish director and screenwriter Erik Balling hired him as a still photographer for his films at Nordisk Film in 1970 . His first involvement as a still photographer was in the film Ballade på Christianshavn and in the accompanying television series Oh, these tenants . During his work as a film and still photographer, he produced special and sophisticated still images for cinema posters, showcases, etc. for advertising and press purposes, mostly for a film launch. In the resulting permanent collaboration with Balling, he also created stills for the Danish film series of the Olsen Gang from the third film The Olsen Gang goes to Jutland and for many other Danish TV series such as Matador . He also participated in Bille August's Das Geisterhaus and Fräulein Smilla's Feeling for Snow . Rolf Konow has earned an international reputation as a photographer in more than 100 Danish films and television productions and was therefore later engaged in many foreign and Hollywood productions. He was involved as a photographer in British and American films such as Red Heat , Conan the Barbarian and Resident Evil Extinction . British director Kenneth Branagh also hired Konow for his films Hamlet and Kenneth Branagh - The Magic Flute because of his qualities . Furthermore, Konow also appeared as an actor in film and television in the supporting role as a photographer. He also worked as a theater photographer. His photographic works have been presented in several exhibitions in various Danish locations, but also abroad, for example in Prague and several times in Los Angeles . In 2001 Konow was awarded the Honorary Robert for Lifetime Achievement by the Danish Film Academy .
