The Rotbach , also called Ingerkinger Rotbach , is a 7 km long brook in Upper Swabia in Baden-Württemberg , which flows into the lower Riss from the left in the village of Obersulmetingen in the town of Laupheim in the Biberach district .

The rift flows further upwards from the same side in Biberach an der Riss to another, somewhat larger Rotbach .

geography

course

The Ingerkinger Rotbach runs steadily east-northeast. It arises in the Bühlhau forest between the village of Mundeldingen in the municipality of Oberstadion in the Alb-Donau district in the west-southwest and the village of Ingerkingen in the municipality of Schemmerhofen in the district of Biberach in the northeast at an altitude of around 526  m above sea level. NHN , just in the Mundeldinger district. Soon he steps out of the forest over the district border to the district of Ingerkingen and then crosses the southern part of the village. Below it, the Erlengraben run at a short distance from the right , then to about 509  m above sea level. NHN from left to the soot ditch . According to this, it is initially the municipality and district boundary between the village of Obersulmetingen in the city of Laupheim on the left bank and the village of Altheim von Schemmerhofen on the right, but eventually crosses over entirely to Obersulmetinger territory. At the edge of the village the Saungraben flows from the right , in the village it runs its last quarter of a kilometer in the wide bed of a left flood relief channel of the Riss , into which it finally ends at the bend in the Sattlergasse at about 503  m above sea level. NHN flows from the left.

Catchment area

According to the official waterway map, the Rotbach is 7.3 km long and drains a catchment area of 26.2 km², which borders in the north on that of the Aischbach , which runs a little downwards in Untersulmetingen also east to the Riss. In the east there are no major competitors in front of the Riß , in the southeast the Assmannshardter Mühlbach runs to the Riß in a similarly Rotbach-like orientation . The receiving waters of the small western competitors flow directly into the Danube, there are the Stehenbach in the southwest and the Ehrlos, which drains the Rottenacker Ried, in the northwest.

The two with about 562  m above sea level. NHN highest points in the catchment area are on the southern watershed at the water reservoir on the Schweinsberg a little north of Schemmerhofen and on the northern at the water reservoir of Ehingen - Sontheim . On the western side, heights are several times around 550  m above sea level. Reached NHN .

The majority of the catchment area belongs to the municipality of Schemmerhofen, a sizable confluence near the city of Laupheim. In addition, a predominantly wooded small part in the northwest belongs to the city of Ehingen and a very small forest gusset there belongs to the community of Unterstadion .

nature and environment

The catchment area is sparsely populated and mostly comprises open, plowed fields. There is forest on its western and northern edge.

Between the uppermost course of the Rußgraben and the parallel lower course of a left tributary is the 17 ha large fertilized reed , to the left of the Rotbach lower course before Obersulmetingen the 13 ha large Müsse , both of which are the remains of former fens that are under nature protection , the peat cuttings silted up between isolated woody plants and unused litter meadows. The upper Rotbach before Ingerkingen also runs in a low moor, as does the Hüttenseebach tributary of its right Unterlazf tributary Saungraben.
