Rudolf "Rudi" Schicker (born August 23, 1952 in Vienna ) is an Austrian politician and was club chairman of the SPÖ Vienna from 2010 to 2015 . From 2001 to 2010 he was in the state government and city senate Häupl III and Häupl IV, the city councilor for urban development and transport .

School and professional career

Rudolf Schicker grew up in a community building ( Wildganshof ) in Vienna's 3rd district, Landstrasse . His mother was a child welfare worker, his father a professional firefighter . After elementary school, he attended the Stubenbastei federal high school, from which he graduated in 1970 with the Matura . He then studied at the Technical University of Vienna , the study directions Surveying and Spatial Planning and Regional Planning .

In 1976 Schicker completed his technical studies with the academic degree Dipl.-Ing. from. He then worked as a research assistant at the Austrian Institute for Spatial Planning until 1978 . Between 1978 and 1987 he was a consultant in the spatial planning and regional policy department of the Federal Chancellery and between 1988 and 2001 managing director of the Austrian Conference on Spatial Planning (ÖROK).

Since 2014, Rudolf Schicker has been one of the two coordinators for the Institutional Capacity and Cooperation (PA 10) sub-area for the European Union's strategy for the Danube region , based within Wien Holding . Since 2018 he has been head of the Vienna-based international Danube Strategy Point of the Danube Region Strategy in a similar position.

Political career

Rudolf Schicker has been active in the SPÖ since 1965. He joined the Rote Falken and the Association of Socialist Middle School Students. He was a member of the young generation , he was active in the SPÖ district organization Landstrasse and a member of the district council. In 1994 he became a member of the Vienna state parliament and local council . After the Vienna election in 2001 , he was sworn in on April 27, 2001 in the city senate and in the provincial government of Häupl III as the leading city councilor for urban development and transport . After the Vienna election in 2005, Schicker remained in the same city council function in the Häupl IV cabinet. After the 2010 election, the SPÖ handed over the urban planning and traffic agendas to the Greens. Rudi Schicker then took over the management of the SPÖ club in the Vienna City Hall. In 2015 he was succeeded by Christian Oxonitsch .

Private

Rudolf Schicker has two daughters from his previous marriage to Ria Schicker. Today he is married to the former President of the City School Council for Vienna Susanne Schicker , previously Brandsteidl. The wedding took place between 2016 and 2019.
