Life

After attending school, Eberle was drafted into the Wehrmacht and from 1944 took part in the Second World War as a soldier . He was most recently taken prisoner of war by the French, from which he was released in 1948. He later made up his high school diploma and then completed a working course in philosophy, history and economics at the University of Freiburg . There he became an active member of the Catholic student union Germania-Hohentwiel, then of the KStV Neuenfels, both in the KV . In 1955 he was in Freiburg with the dissertation topic object and methods from village studies in Germany to Dr. rer. pole. PhD .

After receiving his doctorate, Eberle worked as a research assistant at the University of Freiburg and at the Society for Agricultural Policy and Agricultural Sociology in Bonn . From 1957 to 1969 he was managing director of the Hochrhein planning community and from 1969 to 1972 as managing director of the Hochrhein Chamber of Commerce and Industry .

Eberle joined the CDU and was town councilor in Säckingen from 1962 to 1971 . In the state elections in April 1964 he was elected to the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg for the first time , to which he belonged until his death (successor was Peter Straub ). On June 8, 1972, he was appointed Minister for Economy, Medium-Sized Enterprises and Transport to the state government led by Prime Minister Hans Filbinger and remained in office under Prime Minister Lothar Späth . In June 1984 the department was transformed into the Ministry of Economy, Medium-Sized Enterprises and Technology.

Rudolf Eberle loved classical music and promoted z. B. Anne Sophie Mutter by arranging the purchase of an Emiliani violin and Hortense von Gelmini through a conductor at the SWF.

Eberle died unexpectedly of a heart attack in 1984, whereupon the innovation prize he founded for small and medium-sized companies was renamed the Dr. Rudolf Eberle Prize . In many communities in Baden-Württemberg there are streets or schools named after him today (e.g. the Dr. Rudolf Eberle School in Todtmoos or the Rudolf Eberle School in Bad Säckingen).
