Friedrich Heinrich Rudolf Cramer , von Cramer since 1864 (born December 27, 1818 in the Marienstuhl monastery , Wanzleben district ; † April 27, 1902 in Bad Blankenburg ) was a Prussian major general and commandant of the Magdeburg fortress .

Rudolf was the son of the Prussian War and Domain Council and Herr auf Bleckendorf Gerhard Cramer († 1823) and his wife Wilhelmine, née Kirchhoff (1799–1879).

Career

Cramer joined the 27th Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army as a fusilier on July 9, 1835 , advanced to the position of redundant second lieutenant by the beginning of March 1838 , was initially placed on the budget in mid-October 1839 and on March 22, 1840 in the budget. From February 26 to July 1, 1844 he was assigned to the rifle factory in Suhl and from April 1, 1845 to March 20, 1846 to the Guard Pioneer Department . This was followed from May 1, 1846 to November 1, 1849 a command as adjutant and accounting officer at the III. Battalion in the 27th Landwehr Regiment in Aschersleben . On May 1, 1860, Cramer came into the 27th Combined Infantry Regiment, from which the 4th Magdeburg Infantry Regiment No. 67 emerged on July 1, 1860 . On November 11, 1862, he was transferred to the 8th Brandenburg Infantry Regiment No. 64 as a major , and on October 14, 1864, he was appointed battalion commander.

During the German-Danish War Cramer fought at Nübel, Büffelkoppel, Wilhoy, Frydendal and Osterdüppel as well as during the storming of the Düppeler Schanzen and the transition to Alsen . For Alsen he received the Red Eagle Order IV. Class with Swords and the Mecklenburg Military Merit Cross . In addition, he was raised to the hereditary Prussian nobility on August 14, 1864 by King Wilhelm I "because of his brave behavior in front of the enemy when taking the island of Alsen" .

In the German War he took part in the Battle of Königgrätz in 1866 . He was promoted to lieutenant colonel on September 20, 1866, and transferred to the 78th Infantry Regiment on October 30, 1866 .
