Ruth Meisner

Ruth Meisner (born March 30, 1902 in Heinrichsfelde , Upper Silesia , † 1973 in Hanover ) was a German sculptor , ceramist and painter .

Life

Ruth Meisner attended the State Ceramic College in Bunzlau , known for Bunzlau ceramics , and then studied at the Baden State Art School in Karlsruhe . From 1932 until her death she lived and worked in Hanover.

Meisner's sculptural and free works were described in 1936 as "simple belief" and "of feminine creative power". With her realistic style of representation, Meisner accommodated the National Socialist rulers' conception of art and made it a success. Between 1939 and 1943 she took part four times with animal sculptures in the Nazi propaganda shows Great German Art Exhibition in Munich and "... was one of the respected artists of the Nazi era."
