Saubach is a district of the municipality of Finneland in the Burgenland district in Saxony-Anhalt .

location

Saubach is located between Weimar and Halle (Saale) at 209 meters above sea level. NN, between Kahlwinkel and Bad Bibra in a rural environment.

history

The foundation and the origin of the place are not known. The Suaba documented in the "Ingelheim Protocol" of the Imperial Monastery of Fulda on May 18, 876, is said to be the place Saubach, but this must be doubted due to the lack of other documentary evidence from this and the following time.

In a document of King Otto III , is on 4 October 991 the the Monastery Memleben tenth paid Sobechi in Fries field called. However, it is not Saubach, but rather Seebach (in today's Unstrut-Hainich district ) to be assumed, since Saubach is not located in Friesenfeld.

The later documented naming as Subach in the years 1231 and 1233, in connection with Theodericus de Subach , is controversial as there may be writing or reading errors. The safest assignment is to read instead of Subach - Sebach , as a Dietrich von Seebach (Dither von Subach, Theodericus de Sebeche) can often be found in documents of the Thuringian landgraves at the time. The Seebach aristocratic family sat at Seebach Castle near Seebach in what is now the Unstrut-Hainich district.

The first clear messages about the place come from Lehns documents of the families von Witzleben and Koller from the years 1449 ( Subach ), 1486 ( Zaubach ) and 1501 ( Sawbach ), as accessories of the castle Steinburg and the Wendelstein . The owners of the area in which Saubach lay were the Counts of Rabenswalde , the Counts of Orlamünde and the Lords of Querfurt as well as the Electors of Saxony . Other tenants were those of Selmnitz and von Münchhausen .

The place is on both sides of the Saubach . The northern part of the village - the "official part" (also called - after the church - "Nicolaigemeinde") - belonged to the Wendelstein office of the Principality of Saxony-Querfurt, the southern part - the "court part" (also - after the church - "Jacobigemeinde" or "Main community" called) - to the written manor Steinburg in the Electoral Saxon office Eckartsberga . The outworks in the village belonged to the manor Steinburg.

Only on October 1, 1936, the municipalities of Saubach official part and Saubach court part were merged. On July 1, 2009 Saubach was incorporated into the new municipality of Finneland . The last mayoress was Monika Ludwig .
