Sątok (German Zantoch , 1937–45: Neuscholle ) is a Polish village with around 160 inhabitants in the urban and rural municipality of Bierutów in the Powiat Oleśnicki . The place is located 9 km southwest of Bierutów, halfway to Jelcz-Laskowice .

history

In 1268 , today's place Satok was first mentioned in a document under the name Zamdovici, then in 1530 under the name Czantachow. When the place was named Zantoch cannot be documented.

The manor house at that time, which was the castle and seat of a settler , is now inhabited by four families who farm . Zantoch was once a manor in the district of Oels , was settled in 1935 and was named Neuscholle in 1937 . “New Scholle” means “new land” and refers to the 10 to 50 hectare settlement areas. The former manor house has been a listed building since 1945 .

Almost all buildings are inhabited, but since these houses do not belong to the residents, no extensive restorations have been carried out apart from minor renovations in the private living areas. For the future, the administration plans to build a central sewage treatment plant in the village as well as to connect the residents to the community water supply, which has to be relocated from the southern area.

There was a distillery in the village, plus the distillery cellar and the pond for exchanging the cooling water required in the distillery. The distillery pond was a fishing pond with carp and other fish both then and now, the distillery cellar was a popular toboggan hill for young people. The distillery was completely demolished in the 1950s after it collapsed due to its dilapidation . There was a grain mill in the center of the village, it was infected by drunken Red Army soldiers and burned down to the foundation walls. Today the foundations show the visitor the former location, the area is leveled. In the same village square, opposite the mill, was in the late 1930s , a war memorial for the fallen soldiers of the wars years by the villagers 1870 / 71 and 1914 / 18 built. It was looked after by the residents until January 20, 1945 . The monument was then destroyed.
