Saint-Louis is a region in Senegal . The capital is the city of the same name, Saint-Louis . The region lies in the north of Senegal on the border with Mauritania .

Geographical location

The region stretches in a west-east direction for around 300 kilometers with an average width of 65 kilometers along the south bank of the Senegal River . In the west of the region lies the Djoudj National Park , which is home to thousands of bird species.

On the next structural levels, seven arrondissements, 19 municipalities (Communes) and 18 rural communities (Communautés rurales) are to be named for 2013.
