Culture and sights
The manoir
The manor called Manoir de la Cour is located near the village church and was built by François d'Osmond in the mid-15th century . This is evidenced by the coat of arms on the entrance door. The building has two round towers.
The old bridge of Sainte-Croix
The bridge at Sainte-Croix was around a hundred meters long, but only left space for one car. The remains of the Gothic bridge, which had been destroyed during the Second World War , disappeared when the Orne was dammed. There was a calvary on the central pillar of the bridge , which was also destroyed. A calvary was later discovered on a farm near Putanges-Pont-Écrepin , which was given to the community and blessed on May 5, 1985.
Saint Roch chapel
The veneration of Saint Roch arose as a result of the various waves of plague of the Middle Ages. However, construction of this chapel did not begin until 1867. The Romanesque chapel has six stained glass windows and the altar of a former church in Briouze .
The church
The village church is surrounded by a small cemetery. It was rebuilt in the 19th century. It has an altar from 1745, which was repainted in 1920.
The lime kiln
In the hamlet of Le Cul de Chaudron there is a lime kiln , which is believed to have given the hamlet its name.
There is also a renovated lavoir in Sainte-Croix-sur-Orne .
