The Salonorchester Erfurt is an entertainment orchestra founded on October 4th, 2009 based in Erfurt . The Erfurt Chamber Music Association is the sponsor .

history

The orchestra was founded through a newspaper appeal written by Elmar Nolte, which appeared on October 2, 2009 in the Thüringer Allgemeine . The initial objective was that interested professionals and amateurs come together to make light music together, with the string sound in the foreground. The first concerts took place on October 4th and December 14th, 2009 in Café Ilvers in the Erfurt district of Ilversgehofen . The orchestra was initially supported by the Kultur im Norden von Erfurt eV association. The orchestra was taken over by the Erfurt Chamber Music Association , which was founded a few weeks later , the musical direction by the violinist Roland Rohde and the cellist Claudia Schwarze-Nolte and the inclusion of additional members of the Erfurt Philharmonic Orchestra gradually led to a professionalization of the orchestra.

This was followed by regular engagements at the Erly Café Nerly , at the Kunstfest Tiefthal , at the Erfurt Salon Orchestra Festival 2010, at the summer classical nights of the Erfurt Zoo , at the Fête de la Musique , at the annual New Year's concerts of the Chamber Music Association in the Erfurt Town Hall and in Warburg . There were also successful guest performances in other federal states. Particular attention was paid to a. a concert of the orchestra's talks in cooperation with the Buchenwald Memorial with songs by the hit and operetta writer Fritz Löhner-Beda in autumn 2012 on the 70th anniversary of his death, which was repeated several times in other locations.

Since October 2014, a small cast of the salon orchestra has been playing regularly for tea in the foyer of the Erfurt Theater .

The extensive repertoire includes popular classics , salon and character pieces from the 19th century, waltzes , polkas , marches , ragtimes , tangos , swing and film music by composers such as Jacques Offenbach , Johann Strauss , Julius Fučík , Franz Lehár , Scott Joplin , Paul Lincke , Fritz Kreisler , Heitor Villa-Lobos , Carlos Gardel , Cole Porter , Theo Mackeben , George Gershwin , Gerhard Winkler , Leroy Anderson , Astor Piazzolla and Henry Mancini .

Depending on the occasion and the size of the room, the size of the ensemble is variable and ranges from a piano trio to a string quartet to an orchestra with multiple string parts , a complete rhythm section and woodwinds . The orchestra's guest soloists included pianists Myron Romanul and Francesco Bottigliero and singers such as Julia Neumann, Susanne Rath, Saya Lee, Peter Umstadt, Klaus Damm and others.
