Santa Maria Regina Pacis is a parish and titular church in the Roman quarter Lido di Ostia Levante . The church was dedicated to Mary under her title Queen of Peace .
history
Until 1884 the area was unpopulated because it was a wetland . Then the swamps were drained to gain arable land. In 1916 the planning for the church began to ask for an end to the First World War, hence the patronage Queen of Peace. At that time, Pope Benedict XV. the title Queen of Peace added to the Lauretan Litany . The foundation stone was laid on June 21, 1919 and built according to Giulio Magni designs until 1928 . Although the construction was supported by the Cardinal Bishop of Ostia and Cardinal Dean Vincenzo Vannutelli , the completion was delayed due to a lack of funds. In July 1926 the parish was founded. The church was consecrated on December 20, 1928. Initially, the Augustinians from the Basilica di Sant'Aurea were supposed to look after the church. After the completion of the church, however, the Pallottines took over pastoral care.
In 1924 an electric railway was opened and in 1927 a main road with the Via de Mare was opened and the area developed into a seaside resort. With a population close to a hundred thousand, it was one of the largest settlements in Italy without it being a municipality.
On March 5, 1973 the church was opened by Pope Paul VI. raised to the title church.

Exterior
The church is slightly elevated on the only hill of Lido di Ostaia in Piazza Regina Pacis.
The plan is a Latin cross with an octagonal dome (height 42 meters) in the intersection.
