Sarny Wielkie ( German Groß Sarne , also Groß-Saarne ) is a village in the Gmina Niemodlin , in the powiat Opolski , the Opole Voivodeship in southwestern Poland .

Geographical location

Sarny Wielkie is about 13 kilometers northwest of the municipal seat of Niemodlin (Falkenberg) and about 35 kilometers west of the district town and voivodeship capital Opole . Sarny Wielkie is located in the Nizina Śląska (Silesian Plain) on the edge of the Dolina Nysy Kłodzkiej (Glatzer Neisse Valley) to the Równina Niemodlińska (Falkenberg plain) .

Autobahn 4 runs to the north . The Nysa Kłodzka (Glatzer Neisse) flows west of Sarny Wielkie .

To the east of Sarny Wielkie lies Sarny Małe (Klein Sarne) , in the southeast Gracze (Graase) and in the southwest Radoszowice (Raschwitz) .

history

The village is first mentioned in 1410. In 1534 it was mentioned as Sarny .

After the First Silesian War in 1742, Groß Sarne and most of Silesia fell to Prussia .

After the reorganization of the province of Silesia , the rural community of Groß Sarne belonged to the district of Falkenberg OS in the administrative district of Opole from 1817 . In 1845 the village consisted of 44 houses and a farm. In the same year there were 302 people in Groß Sarne, 45 of them Catholic. In 1855 there were 304 people living in the village. In 1865 the village had 22 gardener and 2 cottage industry jobs. The residents of Graase were schooled. In 1874 the Graase district was founded, which consisted of the rural communities Graase, Groß Mangersdorf, Groß Sarne, Klein Mangersdorf, Raschwitz and Rautke and the manor districts Graase, Groß Sarne, Klein Mangersdorf, Raschwitz and Rautke. In 1885 Groß Sarne had 222 inhabitants.

In 1933 there were 286 people in Groß Sarne. In 1939 the village had 323 inhabitants. Until the end of the war in 1945, Groß Sarne belonged to the district of Falkenberg OS

On February 6, 1945 the village was occupied by the Red Army . Then the previously German town of Groß Sarne came under Polish administration, was initially renamed Sarny Wielkie and joined Gmina Niemodlin. On June 21, 1946, the remaining German population was expelled. In 1950 the place came to the Opole Voivodeship . In 1999 the place came to the re-established Powiat Opolski as part of Gmina Niemodlin .
