Sascha Klein (born September 12, 1985 in Eschweiler ) is a German diver . He competes internationally in the 10 m high diving both in individual competitions and in synchronized competitions with Patrick Hausding .
Life
Sascha Klein started diving at the age of eight in Aachen and trained at SV Neptun Aachen until 2011 . In 2011 he moved with his trainer Boris Rozenberg to the Bundesstützpunkt Dresden and from 2011 to 2012 belonged to the SC Riesa and then to the Dresdner SC . He is a sports soldier in the Bundeswehr sports promotion group in Cologne. Thanks to Klein's victory at the FINA Grand Prix in Rostock in 2008, Sascha Klein was ranked first in the world from the 10 m tower until August 23, 2008.
At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, he and his partner Hausding won the silver medal in synchronized jumping from the 10 m tower behind the Chinese Lin Yue and Huo Liang , but ahead of the Russians Gleb Galperin and Dmitri Dobroskok . In synchronized jumping from the 3 m board, he finished sixth with Pavlo Rozenberg .
For winning the silver medal at the 2008 Olympic Games, he received the Silver Laurel Leaf from Federal President Köhler , the highest sporting award given by the Federal Republic of Germany.
Klein won his first international medal in the senior category at the European Championships in Budapest in 2006 , where he and his then partner Heiko Meyer won silver in the 10 m synchronous competition. In the same competition he was able to win the title at the European Championships in Eindhoven in 2008 , in Turin in 2009 , in Budapest in 2010 and again in Turin in 2011 with Patrick Hausding. In the individual from the 10 m tower he was runner-up at the European Championships in 2008, and in 2010 and 2011 he was able to win the title. At the 2011 World Championships in Shanghai , the duo Klein / Hausding also won their first World Championship medal with silver in the 10 m synchronized jumping. Klein also celebrated his greatest success in an individual competition in high diving. He won bronze behind Qiu Bo and David Boudia .

Klein has been participating in the third season of the Eternal Heroes competition show since January 30, 2018 .
