Women's World Cup 2007

The first women's world championship was held in May 2007 in Yekaterinburg .

Attendees

  • Russia as the host
  • Ukraine, China and Georgia after the result of the previous Chess Olympiad
  • Poland and Vietnam as winners of the respective continental championships
  • Botswana as a representative of Africa - At the Africa Championship, the team came fourth and last behind Algeria, South Africa and Nigeria.
  • Germany, Armenia and the Czech Republic as successors, as the USA and Hungary (4th and 5th place in the Olympics) did not participate and America did not send a continental champion

particularities

  • In contrast to the previous world championships, the first rating was the number of team points and only when they were equal the number of board points.
  • China was far superior to all other teams. Already after the 4: 0 (!) Against Russia in the 2nd round there was hardly any doubt about the victory of the Chinese women. The team only lost a game in the 2-2 draw against Georgia.
  • The representation from Botswana was nowhere near competitive and lost all 36 games after some drastic mistakes - u. a. due to the well-known loss of women after 5 moves in the Russian defense .

German team

Jessica Nill , Elisabeth Pähtz , Ketino Kachiani-Gersinska , Melanie Ohme and Maria Schöne played for the German national team .
The 6th place of the German team who jumped in at short notice is a remarkable success. Elisabeth Pähtz and Ketino Kachiani-Gersinska remained undefeated.

Women's World Cup 2009

The 2nd World Championship for women was held in Ningbo in September 2009 .

Attendees

  • China as defending champions and hosts (with two teams)
  • Russia, Poland, Armenia, Ukraine and Georgia as the best teams at the 2007 European Championship and at the same time best European teams at the 2008 Chess Olympiad
  • India and Vietnam as second and third in the previous Asian championship (behind China)
  • the USA came third in the 2008 Chess Olympiad

Africa did not send a representative.

  • The tournament was very balanced, which is also evident from the high number of minus points of the winning team. China lost to Ukraine and the USA.
  • In the first half of the tournament, the team from Poland dominated, but they only got one team point from the last 4 rounds.
  • The best single player was the Russian youth world champion from 2007 Valentina Gunina with 6.5 points from 7 games. In addition, there was a defeat without a fight when she was slightly delayed in the second round, which was punished according to the rules of FIDE with a loss of the game.

Women's World Cup 2011

The 3rd Women's World Championship was held in December 2011 in Mardin , Turkey.

  • Russia, China and Georgia as medal winners of the 2010 Chess Olympiad
  • Ukraine came third in the European Championship in 2009 behind Russia and Georgia
  • Vietnam and India as winners and runner-up in the 2009 Asian Championship
  • Turkey as the host
  • Armenia and Greece by invitation
  • South Africa as a representative of Africa. The team took third place at the 2011 Pan-African Games . The teams from Egypt and Algeria placed in front of her took part in the Pan-Arab Games held at the same time instead of the World Cup.

The teams from Cuba and the USA eligible to start after the result of the Chess Olympiad waived. They were replaced by the invited teams.

  • Despite a defeat against Ukraine, the Chinese were already certain as the winners before the final round. As in 2007, they won the direct duel against Russia 4-0.
  • The best individual players on points were the Chinese Zhao Xue and Tan Zhongyi with 7 points each from 9 games. The Indian Humpy Koneru achieved the best rating .

Women's World Cup 2013

The 4th Women's World Cup was held in March 2013 in Astana , Kazakhstan.

Attendees

  • Russia, China and Ukraine as medal winners of the 2012 Chess Olympiad
  • Georgia finished third in the 2011 European Championships. European Champions Russia qualified via the Olympic result. The second-placed Poland apparently did without.
  • France finished fifth in the European Championship behind Ukraine, who had already qualified via the Olympic result
  • the USA as representative of America
  • India finished second in the 2012 Asian Championship behind China and fourth in the Chess Olympiad
  • Romania as fifth in the Chess Olympiad

particularities

Ukraine was the only team to remain unbeaten, winning the top game against defending champions China 3-1. The Russians drew 2: 2 each against Ukraine, China and Georgia and lost to the USA 1.5: 2.5. Besides the win against Turkey, this was the only team win for the USA women.

The best individual players were based on their Elo performance

  • the Chinese Ju Wenjun with a performance of 2651 and
  • the US American Irina Krush with 2607 points.

Both players achieved 7 points each from nine rounds. The Chinese Tan Zhongyi has the same score . Olga Girja from Russia got 6.5 points from eight games.

World Cup 2015

The 5th World Championship took place from April 18-28, 2015 in Chengdu , China.

  • China as host and runner-up at the 2014 Chess Olympiad
  • Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia, Kazakhstan as the best-placed teams in the 2014 Chess Olympiad
  • Poland as the best next-placed team at both the 2013 European Championship and the 2014 Chess Olympiad
  • USA as the winner of the Pan American Championship 2013
  • Egypt won the 2011 African Games
  • India at the invitation of the FIDE President - The team finished second in the Asian Championship behind World Cup hosts China.

Georgia and Russia met in the first round and parted 2-2. The future world champion then won all other competitions. Russia already tied another draw against Armenia and later against Kazakhstan in Round 2. Defending champion Ukraine with individual world champion Marija Musytschuk was already clearly defeated at the start against outsider Poland and was subsequently unable to intervene in the fight for the title.

The best single player was Bela Chotenashvili with 7.5 points from 9 games on the top board. The Russian Olga Girja got the best percentage yield with 6.5 points from 7 games. Lilit Mkrtchjan (Armenia) and Lei Tingjie (China) also got 6.5 points each .

World Cup 2017

The 6th World Championship took place in Khanty-Mansiysk in June 2017 .

  • Only the team from Russia remained undefeated. She drew against the USA and Azerbaijan.

The 7th World Championship took place in March 2019 in Astana .

  • The most successful single player was the Russian Alexandra Gorjatschkina with eight points from nine games. Two players from the victorious Chinese team got seven points each: Lei Tingjie in only eight games and Tan Zhongyi on the top board from all nine rounds.
