The new fairy tales from Scheherezade

Scheherezades last night (original title: russian Последняя ночь Шахерезады , Poslednjaja notsch Schacheresady ) is a Soviet - Syrian fairy tale film by Tachir Sabirow from 1988 based on motifs from the fairy tales from Thousand and One Nights . The film was preceded by the predecessors A Night with Scheherezade and The New Fairy Tales of Scheherezade .

action

That night , the caliph is impatiently eager to learn from Scheherezade what happened when the shoemaker Maruf returned to the city of the caliph with the richly laden caravan . After his arrival, Maruf pays his debts to the merchants and his wedding to Princess Esmagül is arranged. However, the vizier Jaffar finds out that Maruf is just a shoemaker who owes his wealth to the jinn of the magic ring. He secretly steals the precious gem from Maruf, with which he immediately rises to be caliph. He lets his predecessor and Maruf disappear into the desert.

When the two abandoned ones then meet a dragon in the arid wasteland , Scheherezade informs the new caliph that she cannot tell the story as long as he wears the magic ring on his finger. Wanting to find out what happened next, Jaffar puts him aside, whereupon Scheherezade tells him that the princess Esmagül standing behind him is taking possession of the miracle ring. Those threatened by the dragon are immediately wanted back and Dschaffar is transformed into a hideous lizard and fed to the animals. Unintentionally by Esmagül, the ring later returns to Maruf's possession, who then flies to his home country with the princess on the back of the huge Djinn. On the way Esmagül is kidnapped by Tiuli-Kos. The Djinn, exhausted by the many wishes, can no longer conjure her back, so he sets Maruf down with the last of his strength near the city of the kidnapper. Alone, the shoemaker arrives there with the intention of freeing his princess.

With the help of the freed Said, who had been captured because he was looking for his lover, who had also been stolen for the harem of old Tiuli-Kos, Maruf disguises himself as a famous doctor and thus gains access to the Tiuli-Kos palace. He lets Esmagül take a soporific herbal drink, whereby the lifeless beauty, found dead, is brought into the desert. After Esmagül has been awakened from her sleep by Maruf, the genie, who has recovered, flies the two lovers to the shoemaker's hometown, where they can henceforth live a life of joy and happiness. The harem slaves also become cheerful and happy again, because the jinn helps them to regain their freedom at their request.
