geography
location
In the Palatinate Forest, the Schindhübel is 5 km southwest of Elmstein part of the central massif Frankenweide , over which the Palatinate main watershed runs. The massif stretches from Hochspeyer in the north via Johanniskreuz to the B 10 near Hauenstein in the south. Especially in the middle area between Johanniskreuz and Hermersbergerhof it is more of a high plateau that is bordered by deeply cut valleys.
Waters
From the Eschkopf ( 608 m ) a ridge stretches northeast over the Schindhübel to the Bloskülb ( 570 m ) near the Elmsteiner district Iggelbach , which separates the upper tributaries of Speyerbach and Helmbach as a local watershed : The Erlenbach , the strongest source river of the Speyerbach, flows from the Eschkopf west of the Schindhübel to the north, the Blattbach as the left tributary of the Helmbach from the Schindhübel to the east.
Surroundings
2 km northeast of the Schindhübels in the direction of Bloskülb or Iggelbach are the remains of a forester's wall, which is attributed to the "hunter from Kurpfalz", behind whom the former Count Palatine Johann Kasimir is believed to be behind .
reachability
The summit of the Schindhübel can only be reached by hikers. Motor vehicles use the district road , which from the east as K 17 and from the west as K 58 connects Iggelbach and the B 48 (Hochspeyer– Rinnthal ). To the west below the summit is a parking lot at an altitude of about 540 m , from which a 600 m long hiking trail leads upwards.
