Architecture and history

The two-storey building was built around 1660, according to other information around 1640. It is assumed that the well-known Quedlinburg master carpenter Heinrich Rühle built the house for the blacksmith Nagel . In the literature it is referred to as the merchant's farm. The house has a mezzanine . The half-timbered elements of the building include ship throats , strongly profiled filler wood , pyramid beam heads , headbands and lugs .

The structural condition of the house was poor around 1900. At that time, according to a traditional report by the poor carer Nobody from January 3, 1900, 13 poor families lived in the crowded house. Every corner of the house is used, the stairs are hardly without danger. The roof of the front building was described as completely defective. The lime strips were weathered by the hollow bricks, the hatches were missing the hatches, and there were no compartments in both gables. The throat floor is not locked .

At the end of the 20th century the house was in dire need of renovation after a long period of vacancy. The renovation was carried out in 2005 by the architects qbatur and was accompanied for the three-part documentary Die Häuslebauer des MDR television . The building has a living space of 165 m².
