The Schwarzer Felsen-Höllenstein area is a landscape protection area in the area of ​​the city of Rottweil that was designated by ordinance on June 29, 1990 by the Rottweil District Office .

location

The Schwarzer Felsen sub-area is located east of the city center at Rottweiler train station on the right slope of the valley at the confluence of the Neckar and Prim rivers . The Höllenstein sub-area is a little further north, also on the right slope of the valley and frames the “In der Au” district.

Protection purpose

According to the Protected Area Ordinance, the main protection purpose is “the preservation of the steep impact slopes of the Prim and Neckar, which characterize the landscape, with semi-arid grass, shrubbery, natural mixed forests and rock areas, the richly structured upper slopes with bushes, hedgerows, dry meadows and orchards as well as an abandoned plaster stage with interesting succession stages. The protection also serves to secure valuable biotopes for rare animal and plant species, some of which are threatened with extinction. "

Landscape character

The steep slopes of the Neckar and Prim are characteristic of the landscape. They are mostly overgrown with bushes and forest. Above the slopes, the area also includes some meadows.
