The Neckar Valley with side valleys from Rottweil to Aistaig is a landscape protection area designated by the Rottweil District Office on February 1, 1953 by ordinance in the area of ​​the municipalities of Bösingen , Dietingen , Epfendorf , Oberndorf am Neckar , Rottweil and Villingendorf .

location

The nature reserve Neckartal with side valleys from Rottweil to Aistaig extends in the valley of the Neckar starting below the Rottweiler city center to the Stumpenfels north of the Oberndorf district of Aistaig . It includes the valley slopes on both sides of the Neckar and some side valleys. The reserve is located in the Obere Gäue natural area .

Landscape character

Between Rottweil and Aistaig, the Neckar valley is cut up to 140 m deep into the Keuper rock down to the shell limestone and is partly canyon-like in character. The river meanders through the valley with about 20 turns. The tributaries cut deeply into the surrounding plains and thus structure the valley edge. There are some castles and castle ruins on the numerous rocks and heights.

Contiguous protected areas

Most of the landscape protection area belongs to the FFH area Neckartal between Rottweil and Sulz . The nature reserves Neckarburg , Schischemtal , Kälberhalde , Mittlere Bollerhalde and Brandhalde are embedded in the area. The extensive natural monuments Höhinger Halde and Käppeleshalde are located in the landscape protection area.
