The area of Schenkenburg is an ordained by the Wolfach District Office on May 10, 1968 as a landscape protection area in the area of ​​the municipality of Schenkenzell .

location

The Schenkenburg landscape protection area is located between the village of Schenkenzell and the town of Schiltach on the right slope of the Kinzig valley on the federal road 294 .

Landscape character

The conservation area is largely forested. Part of the forest on the steep valley slopes can be assigned to the biotope type maple-ash-block forest, only directly on the Kinzig there are some meadows and around the Oberhalden homestead some nebulas . The area also includes the eponymous meander spur Schenkenburg with the castle ruins of the same name .

Contiguous protected areas

Part of the landscape protection area belongs to the FFH area Schiltach and Kaltbrunner Tal . The area is located in the Black Forest Middle / North Nature Park .
