Got a pig is a DEFA feature film by Karl-Heinz Heymann from 1988 based on the story Das Schulschwein by Walter Püschel from 1981.

action

Hadubrant Schulz returned to his home village in the winter of 1945/46 after successfully completing the new teacher training course to find out that his former mayor was just being arrested by the Russians. He had not been able to meet the required delivery target for pigs with his community. Now the teacher comes to a wild boar himself . One that the 14-year-old lively and somewhat precocious brat Olly, daughter of his landlady Gertrud, caught using a self-made trap and that he was reluctant, but willing, to help cut off in the dark forest night.

Such a thing is strictly forbidden, and no matter how secretly it is operated, this meat procurement campaign is noticeable in the village. Of course, Olly and her mother want the pig for self-sufficiency, while Hadubrant wants to use it for school meals . The first to hear about it is the pastor , who wants to exchange the pig for coal to heat his church. The new mayor would of course like to meet the delivery requirement for pigs and he is only half a short one. But the local policeman, with his dog Chapayev, is already closely on the trail of the pig and this is about compliance with the law. So everyone is after the dead wild boar, which is hidden here and there and disappears completely and reappears, and for a variety of reasons. There is also a little love that Hadubrant got from Olly's mother Gertrud and from Anne-Grete, the oak farmer's daughter.

But that also happened back then: court inspections because of suspected black slaughtering and people from the city who wanted to exchange their carpet for something edible and were therefore considered to be hoarders and pushers, but whose carpet they brought with them fit well into the mayor's room. During the farm inspections it turned out that the oak farmer was hiding two of his pigs. He was now brought about that these should be available for a new care model. They were not reported, but served to supply the village as well as to complete the delivery requirement. Meat was now also available for school meals, which brought Hadubrant a promotion to the county seat. Olly and her mother took the same train, who had secretly processed the wild boar, which had never appeared again, and thus created the basis for a better life.

criticism

Helmut Ullrich writes in the Neue Zeit : “Because this film is neither comedy nor satire. Instead, Bauernschwank and Dorfposse with sometimes quite cheap situation comedy , mixed with dark dream sequences, through which something of the difficulty of that time is supposed to be brought in, so to speak through the back door. It rolls around inconsistently and mostly clumsily, and hardly offers anything to laugh about. ”For Margit Voss from the Berliner Zeitung , the film on the whole is just an annoying pig-chase. Birgit Galle says in Neues Deutschland that the film vacillates between thieves' comedy and parody, between clothes and fairy tales from distant times. Only now and then in the film, when looking back, serenity and cheerful wisdom flash up. The lexicon of international films wrote that this is a comedy that is only occasionally amusing, the lengthy and cumbersome narrative of which considerably reduces the entertainment value.
