Herbert Olschok
Herbert Olschok (born September 3, 1951 in Brünlos ) is a German actor , theater director , radio play speaker and acting teacher.
Life
Herbert Olschok grew up in his home village and studied from 1973 to 1976 at the Rostock University of Music and Theater . From the beginning of his career he worked as an actor and director. Olschok's first engagement was at the Rudolstadt Theater from 1976 to 1979 , after which he went to the Mecklenburg State Theater in Schwerin until 1982 . During a one-year guest appearance on the stages of the city of Gera in the 1982/83 season, he also worked at the Berliner Ensemble , to which he belonged until the fall of the Berlin Wall . As an actor, he worked with well-known directors such as Peter Palitzsch , Heiner Müller and Thomas Langhoff . In 1990 Olschok went to Canada for some time. There he taught as a lecturer at the University of Toronto and worked at various theaters.
After returning to Germany, Olschok held the post of drama director from 1992 to 1994 at the National Theater Weimar , from 1994 to 2000 at the Chemnitz Theater and again from 2006 to 2009 at the Anhaltisches Theater Dessau . From 2000 to 2005 he worked temporarily as a freelancer. From 2009 to 2013, Olschok was artistic director at the Berlin Theater im Palais . Since then he has taken on other directing duties at the Chemnitz Theater, the Neubrandenburg / Neustrelitz Theater and Orchestra and the Heilbronn Theater .
In addition to his lectureship in Toronto, Olschok also taught at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin and the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Academy of Music and Theater in Leipzig . From the beginning of 2013 until 2016 he took over the management of the “Acting” department at the Theater Academy Vorpommern in Zinnowitz.
In addition to his extensive work at the theater, Olschok always finds time to work in front of the camera. After his debut in the early 1980s, he can be seen regularly on screen, primarily as a guest actor in television series. Until the beginning of the 1990s he was also a very busy radio announcer in numerous productions of the radio in the GDR .
Herbert Olschok lives in Berlin.
