Seamus Boxley (born September 21, 1982 in Mountlake Terrace , Washington ) is an American basketball player . After graduating, Boxley first played in minor leagues in his home country and in the NBL in China . In 2006 he came to Europe and after a season in the Netherlands , where he won the national cup competition with the Matrixx Magixx, he also played in the 2007/08 basketball league in Germany for the Gießen 46ers. He later won a championship and two other cup competitions with ZZ Leiden in the Netherlands. In 2013 he became Austrian runner-up with the Oberwart Gunners. After a season in the Ukraine , he played in Belgium for the first division newcomer Limburg United in the 2014/15 season .

Career

Boxley stayed to study in the Northwest USA and played from 2000 on at Portland State University in Oregon for the college team Vikings in the Big Sky Conference of the NCAA . In the 2002/03 season Boxley had to sit out after four missions due to injury. However, the Vikings were not very successful and only achieved the best season record of all Big Sky teams in Boxley's senior year 2005, when the later Bundesliga player Scott Morrison was one of his teammates. Boxley was named the MVP of Big Sky in 2005. After they were eliminated in the semi-finals in the Big Sky championship tournament, the Vikings missed participation in the national NCAA finals . Boxley is one of the “all-time top ten” of the Vikings' internal team statistics in all important categories.

After Boxley had not been selected in the NBA Draft 2005 by any club in the highest endowed professional league NBA , he played as a professional in the "International Basketball League" for the Chinooks from Portland at his place of study. Then he was briefly active in the "National Basketball League" of China, which is located below the Chinese Basketball Association , before he was still active in the NBA Development League (D-League) for the 66ers from Tulsa in the 2005/06 season . After he didn't make the leap into the NBA here either, he was under contract in Europe for Matrixx Magixx from Nijmegen in the FEB of the Netherlands in the 2006/07 season . With this team he won the national cup competition, but lost the final series of the championship against the record champions and defending champions EiffelTowers Den Bosch .

For the basketball Bundesliga 2007/08 Boxley was committed by the 46ers from Gießen after a compatriot was injured and was out longer. However, the team again only reached third-bottom place in the table at the end of the season, which was just enough to keep them up. Boxley finally returned to the Netherlands for the 2008/09 season, where he played for the club from Leiden . In 2010 he won the national cup competition with this club, the club's first title after a championship in 1978. A year later, they also became champions in 2011. This title could not be defended in 2012 after Boxley was named MVP of the main round as the main round first in the final series against the EiffelTowers. Instead, they won another cup competition that season. In the following season 2012/13 Boxley was committed in December 2012 by the Gunners from Oberwart in the Austrian basketball league . With the team he reached the final series of the championship, which was lost to BC Zepter Vienna . Boxley had been named a regular season MVP again.

In the 2013/14 season Boxley first played in the Basketball Superliga Ukraine for BK Hoverla from Ivano-Frankivsk, Galicia . However, the season ended prematurely for him after almost all foreign players left the country as a result of the revolutionary unrest after a payment freeze. For the 2014/15 season Boxley signed a contract in Belgium, where he achieved a good fifth place with the newcomer Limburg United from Hasselt in the closed professional league Scooore League . He then moved to the former series champion Spirou BC in the French-speaking Charleroi for the 2015/16 season , with whom he will again play in an international club competition in the 2015/16 Eurocup .
