Sebastian Wimmer (born January 15, 1994 in Linz ) is an Austrian football player .

Career

society

Wimmer began his career at SK Bad Wimsbach in 1933 . In 2008 he came to AKA Linz . In 2011 he moved to the second division LASK . After initially playing for the Linz amateur team in the regional league , he made his debut for the professionals in the second division in April 2012 when he was in the starting line-up against FC Blau-Weiß Linz on matchday 30 of the 2011/12 season.

After LASK was forcibly relegated to the regional league, Wimmer moved to the Bundesliga club FK Austria Wien in summer 2012 . In the 2012/13 season, however, he only played games for the third-class amateur team in Vienna. In August 2013 he switched to second division club SC-ESV Parndorf 1919 on loan . With Parndorf, however, he lost the relegation against LASK and had to relegate to the regional league.

For the 2014/15 season, Wimmer was awarded again to a second division club, this time to SV Horn . During the winter break of that season, he was awarded to the Bundesliga club SC Wiener Neustadt . He made his debut in the Bundesliga in April 2015 when he started against SV Ried on matchday 28 . With the Lower Austrians, he had to relegate to the second division at the end of the season.

In the summer of 2015 he moved to Germany for the fourth-class second team at VfL Wolfsburg . With the second team of the "Wolves" he won the championship of the Regionalliga Nord in the 2015/16 season , but they missed promotion to the 3rd division in the promotion playoff against SSV Jahn Regensburg .

In July 2017, Wimmer moved to third division club SC Paderborn 07 , where he received a contract valid until June 2019. With Paderborn he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga in the 2017/18 season . In August 2018 he terminated his contract with the club and moved to the regional league team FC Viktoria Köln . With Viktoria Köln Wimmer became champion of the Regionalliga West and rose to the 3rd division.

In August 2019, he moved to league competitor FSV Zwickau without another assignment , with whom he received a contract that ran until June 2020. Before the season break caused by the COVID-19 pandemic , Wimmer had been on eight missions for Zwickau. After Zwickau sent his players on short-time work, he took legal action against the project of his club. In addition, he no longer appeared for training. As a result, he was no longer part of the club's squad and his contract was no longer extended after it expired.

For the 2020/21 season he returned to Austria and moved to the second division club FC Juniors OÖ , where he received a contract that ran until June 2022.

National team

Wimmer played for the first time in 2009 for an Austrian national youth team. He played for the U21 national team for the first time in October 2014 when he was on the field for the full playing time in a friendly against the DR Congo .

Personal

His father Hubert (* 1962) was also a soccer player and guarded the goal for Wels and LASK in the Bundesliga .
