Sébastien Japrisot
Sébastien Japrisot (real name: Jean-Baptiste Rossi; born July 4, 1931 in Marseille , † March 4, 2003 in Vichy ) was a French writer , screenwriter , director and translator . His pseudonym is an anagram of his real name. Japrisot is considered one of the most influential French crime writers.

Japrisot's first novel Prélude d'amour ( Les mal partis ) was published in France and the USA in 1950 under his real name Jean-Baptiste Rossi. In 1953 he translated JD Salinger's cult novel The Catcher in the Rye into French. In addition to his writing activities, Japrisot worked for a Paris advertising agency.
In 1962 Japrisot wrote the crime novel Murder Included in the Fare ( Compartiment tueurs ), which became a bestseller. In 1965 the book was made into a film by Constantin Costa-Gavras with Yves Montand . This was followed by the novels Piège pour Cendrillon , for which Japrisot was awarded the 1963 Grand prix de littérature policière and in 1966 La Dame dans l'auto avec des lunettes et un fusil , which was awarded the Prix d'Honneur and was made into two films: 1970 by Anatole Litvak and 2015 by Joann Sfar . 1977 followed the crime Bloody summer , the Jean Becker in 1983 as One Deadly Summer filmed and 1991. The mimosa Hossegor ( Un Long Engagement ) his last novel, in 2005 under the title Mathilde - A great love of Jean-Pierre Jeunet with Audrey Tautou was made into a film.
Japrisot himself directed twice: in 1976 he filmed his debut novel Les mal partis , followed by his feature film Juillet en septembre in 1988 .
