The Seedorfer See and the surrounding area is a nature reserve in the Schleswig-Holstein community of Seedorf in the Segeberg district .

The approximately 175  hectare nature reserve is registered under number 94 in the directory of nature reserves of the Ministry for Energy Transition, Agriculture, Environment, Nature and Digitization . It was expelled in early 1978 (date of regulation: January 13, 1978). The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the Segeberg district.

The nature reserve is located south of the Großer Plöner See in the Holstein Switzerland Nature Park . It protects the almost 76 hectare Lake Seedorf, which lies in an elongated channel , and the areas adjacent to the lake. The Seedorfer See is still largely untouched. He is surrounded by spacious, sections up to 200 meters wide Verlandungs zones with reed beds surrounded. This is followed in parts by wet bushes and swamp forests with willows , alders , birches and ash trees as well as wet meadows and other forest areas .

The reed zones are formed by reeds , bulrushes and pond rushes as well as sedges . They are the habitat for numerous animals. So here brooding marsh harrier , Gray Goose , bittern , reeds and reed warbler , reed bunting and bearded tit . The kingfisher is also native to the nature reserve. The white-tailed eagle uses the lake for foraging. The lake has a special meaning for resting and wintering water birds . Various ducks and geese , dwarf slayers as well as song and dwarf swans can be found here.

The shallow water zones made up of reeds are the nurseries of numerous fish . This is followed by stands of the yellow pond rose on the lake side in sheltered locations . The lake is characterized by lush underwater vegetation.

The forest areas in the north of the nature reserve, which were mainly created by afforestation in the 1920s, are still partly used for forestry . The forest stands are converted to near-natural forest and the proportion of old and dead wood is increased. This creates nesting opportunities for cave breeders such as woodpeckers , golden owls and golden owls .

The nature reserve is looked after by the Schleswig-Holstein State Hunting Association. Most of it borders on agricultural land , in the north partly also on forests.
