The sailing club Hansa Münster e. V. was founded on January 16, 1973 (still without its own sailing area). With well over 600 members and around 50 club-owned boats, it is now the largest sailing club in Münster . Today the clubhouse and the port of the SC Hansa are located on the southwestern part of the Aasee , opposite the open-air museum and all-weather zoo , on the half of the lake further away from the city center.

The club fleet including the private boats includes the following boat classes: Optimist , Laser , Europe , Pirat , Conger , O-Jolle , 420er , 470er , Korsar , Flying Dutchman , VB-Jolle , Hansa-Jolle , BM-Jolle , Fam , Finn-Dinghy , Polyvalk , sword and keel migratory bird as well as C55 and SB3 / SB20 . Club owns over 50 of the dinghies or keel boats, the majority of which are available for training, as well as recreational sailing for club members. A small number is reserved for performance sailing.

The abbreviation of the sailing club Hansa Münster is SHM. The stand of the association shows - in the colors of the Federal Republic of Germany, Westphalia, the city of Münster and the Hanseatic League - a yellow cross in white framed on a red background with the stylized town hall of the city of Münster in the upper field.

Sporting successes

In 1979 Michael Tiemann and Christoph Hein were runner-up in the German Youth Championship in the pirate class. In 1980 Stephan and Christoph Hein won the university championship off Kiel-Schilksee, also in the Pirate. In the following years the university championships in the pirate class were won several times.

In 1981 SC Hansa was commissioned to organize the state championship in North Rhine-Westphalia for the pirates. The winner of the state championship was the team Michael Tiemann and Christoph Hein on their own lake. Two years later, Tiemann and Hein sailed for SC Hansa to win the European Championship in the pirate boat class in Kiel-Schilksee . In the same year they were also international German runner-up. In 1985 the pirate team Manuel Stiff and Georg Uekötter became international Danish runners-up and third at the International Hungarian Championship.

Philipp Meurer started in the boat class International Moth Class ("Motte") for the sailing club Hansa Münster at a world championship, a European championship and four international German championships.

One of the top sailors from SC Hansa was Christoph Hein. He was twice German runner-up with changing taxpayers, four times Westphalian national champion, six times he won the DSV performance pass and in 1983 he became European champion.

activities

One focus of the association is the promotion of regattas, especially among children and young people. The aim is to qualify for German championships (e.g. International German Youth Championship (IDJüM) or International German Youth Championship (IDJM)) as well as for European and World Championships.

In addition to regatta sailors, the Hansa sailing club also has recreational sailors who sail on the Aasee with dinghies . Other members are cruising sailors who travel to different areas in their own or chartered yachts or take part in Atlantic crossings at the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC). Flotilla trips are also regularly organized for members in mostly alternating areas with skippers from the association . These sailing training measures on the IJsselmeer, the North or Baltic Sea as well as various Mediterranean coasts and, again and again, Caribbean areas, sometimes only take place on extended weekends, but the majority take place for one and two weeks.

education

Duel in the "Bockwurst Challenge" of the pirate class

The SC Hansa trains for various sport boat driving licenses . It starts with the DSV youth license for children from the age of seven, goes through the IZA ("International Certificate A" = sport boat driving license inland under sails / motor), then the IZB ("International Certificate B" = sport boat driving license sea) to the IZC ("International Certificate C" = Sportküstenschifferschein).

For the practical SBF inland sailing training, the club's own sword migratory birds, but also the Polyvalken and C55, are mainly used. An optimist is available for every child for training to become a pupil .

Award for excellent training in sailing by the DSV at the German Sailing Day 2017 in Munich.

Since 2018 state service base of the SVNRW.

Ranking regattas

Start of the Kiepenkerl regatta

The Kiepenkerl regatta organized annually by the SHM (this is the abbreviation of the sailing club Hansa Münster used in regattas) is a ranking B regatta of the international optimist class. The Bockwurst Challenge has been organized every year since 1998 by the youth group in the SHM, in which the mostly young sailors compete in their pirates. In 2009 the Laser Cup of the boat classes Laser Standard , Laser Radial and Laser 4.7 , which was advertised as a ranking regatta , was sailed for the first time . Sailors from all over Germany take part in the regattas.

environmental Protection

The SC Hansa was awarded the Blue Flag from 1996 to 2003 by the German Sailing Association and the German Society for Environmental Education for environmentally-oriented association work. In 2000 he also received the environmental award of the city of Münster.
