The Seille (German: Sell ) is a 100 km long river in France in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté in the department of Jura and Saône-et-Loire .

The Seille has its source in the Jura near Ladoye-sur-Seille . At Nevy-sur-Seille it flows together with a source stream of the same name, which has its source at Baume-les-Messieurs and is therefore also called Seille de Baume .
It flows through the French landscape of Bresse . South of Tournus , it flows into the Saône from the left at La Truchère .

At the beginning of the 19th century, the 39 km from Louhans to the Saône were made navigable. In addition to grain, mainly wooden barrels were transported for the winemakers on the Saône and Rhone . Today the river is only used for sports and houseboat tourism .
