Sem ( identical in Occitan ) is a village and a former French municipality at the age of 23 (as of January 1, 2017) in the Ariège department in the Occitania region (before 2016: Midi-Pyrénées ). It belonged to the Arrondissement Foix and the canton Sabarthès (until 2015: canton Vicdessos ). The residents call themselves Sémois .
With effect from January 1, 2019, the former municipalities of Vicdessos , Sem , Goulier and Suc-et-Sentenac were merged to form the Commune nouvelle Val-de-Sos and have the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The administrative headquarters are located in Vicdessos.
geography
Sem is located about 22 kilometers south-southwest of Foix in the Pyrénées Ariégeoises Regional Nature Park . Sem is surrounded by the neighboring villages of Vicdessos in the north, Lercoul in the south and east and Goulier in the south and west.
