The Funen transmitter is the basic network transmitter for the island of Funen in Denmark . The 221-meter-high guyed transmission mast belonging to the Danish broadcaster Danmarks Radio is located in the municipality of Sønder Højrup , ten kilometers south-east of the city of Odense . The transmitter was put into operation on December 17, 1955; this makes it the second oldest television station and the first outside the Copenhagen region .
In addition to the island of Funen, the station also serves as a source of information for the Danish minority in Germany , especially in the region around Eckernförde .
