Sezer Özmen (born July 7, 1992 in Istanbul ) is a Turkish football player in the service of Balıkesirspor .
Career
Club career
Özmen was born in the Bakırköy district of Istanbul and began playing club football in the youth of Bakırköyspor . In 2006 he moved to the youth of Beşiktaş Istanbul . Here he played for four seasons exclusively for the youth team and later for the reserve team. In 2010 he received a professional contract from the then trainer Bernd Schuster and took part in the preparatory camp for the upcoming season.
After this preparatory phase, it was decided to borrow Kaş. He spent the 2010/11 season on loan from Çaykur Rizespor . On September 22, 2010 he made his debut in a cup game against Kayseri Erciyesspor . In the following season he played almost exclusively for the reserve and again only made one game for the professionals. At the end of the season, the loan period was extended for another season.
For the 2012/13 season he moved to Çaykur Rizespor with a transfer fee. For the second half of the 2014/15 season he was loaned to the second division team Samsunspor .
For the 2015/16 season, Özmen moved to the French second division club FC Metz . According to his own statements, he felt very comfortable here and was also satisfied with the frequency of his stakes. This fact changed after the Paris terrorist attacks on November 13, 2015 . After these events, he and his family felt a negative attitude both from their own and opposing fans and in everyday life. He also complained about the racism against him. He then decided to return to Turkey for the next winter break. Although he said he had three offers from the French league, he accepted the offer from the Turkish second division club Alanyaspor and returned to his homeland. Here he and his team achieved the play-off victory of the TFF 1st Lig in the summer of 2016 and thus promotion to the Süper Lig , the first in the club's history.
After the first division promotion with Alanyaspor, Özmen remained without a competitive game. During the 2016/17 winter transfer period, he and his teammate Jonathan Ayité moved to the second division club Yeni Malatyaspor . With this club he finished the 2016/17 season as runner-up and rose with him to the Süper Lig. For the 2017/18 season he and his teammate Yiğitcan Erdoğan were signed by the second division Adana Demirspor .
In January 2019, league rivals Ümraniyespor announced the commitment of the defender with a contract until the end of the season.
National team
Özmen started playing for the Turkish national youth teams at an early age. He went through almost all youth teams from the U-17. In 2009 he took the Turkish U-17 team at the 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup in part, reaching with his team the quarterfinals.
With the U-19 , he took part in the U-19 European Football Championship 2011 , and his team was eliminated from the tournament in the group stage.
