Shanna Reed

Shanna Reed (born October 30, 1956 in Kansas City , Kansas as Shanna Herron ) is a former American actress and dancer , best known for her leading role in Major Dad (1989-1993). In her twenty-year acting career, she was involved in a total of 44 different television series and films .

life and career

Shanna Reed was born in Kansas City , Kansas , in October 1956 . She has five siblings. Her father, Carl Herron, an engineer, died in a car accident when she was seven years old. A year later, her mother Mary Lou married ex-Marine Tom Reed, with whom the family moved to Phoenix . She first worked as a dancer in Las Vegas before appearing on Broadway in New York for a short time .

She began her acting career in the early 1980s in a recurring role as Terry Decker in the soap opera Texas . In addition to her numerous guest roles, such as in A Duke Seldom Comes Alone (1983), TJ Hooker , Fantasy Island , Knight Rider (all three in 1984), Hotel (1985), Magnum , Throb and Cheers (all three in 1988), she had 1986 and 1987 as Adrienne Cassidy in Die Colbys - Das Imperium again a recurring supporting role. For this role she was nominated by the program guide Soap Opera Digest for the Soap Opera Digest Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Primetime Series . Their first series lead role played Reed from 1989 to 1993 in the CBS - sitcom Major Dad . She took on the role of Polly Cooper McGillis , wife of Major John D. McGillis ( Gerald McRaney ) in all episodes produced in the series .

During and after this series, she was increasingly seen in leading roles in television films. She starred alongside Melissa Gilbert in Der Babymacher , alongside Pierce Brosnan and Terry O'Quinn in the thriller Killing Stranger (both 1994), alongside Kate Vernon in Murderous Greed (1995) and alongside Sarah Chalke in Terror at School (1996) . Her last roles in 1998 and 1999 include guest appearances in the two series Beverly Hills, 90210 and A Wink des Himmels as well as a leading role in the thriller Night Call - The Voice of Death .

Shanna Reed has been married to television director Terrence O'Hara since 1986 and has a son with him (* 1992).
