history
The first settlement in the area is dated to the 7th century through the discovery of an Alemannic lance tip. Sickingen was first mentioned in 1188 on the occasion of a donation to the diocese of Speyer . In the 14th century the people of Bisingen were vouched for and were probably also local lords. They were followed by the Lords of Ow , who sold the village to Württemberg in 1446/53 before the customs counts finally acquired the place in 1472. In the county of Zollern, Sickingen belonged to the Stein office. After the March Revolution in 1848 and the transition of the Hohenzollern Lands to Prussia, the village belonged to the Hechingen District Office, which later became the Hechingen District .
In the immediate post-war period, the village was still heavily influenced by agriculture. After land consolidation in the 1950s, which meant loss of territory for the place and the settlement of new industries in Hechingen, Sickingen developed into a place where young families prefer to live. On April 1, 1972, the village was incorporated into Hechingen. The neighboring municipality of Bodelshausen expanded more and more in the direction of the district boundary over the course of time. Today parts of the Bodelshausen industrial estate are in the Sickingen district.
