Simona Pop (* 25. December 1988 in Satu Mare as Simona Deac ) is a former Romanian epee fencer .

Career

Simona Pop achieved the most international successes in team competition. At the European Championships she won the title with the team in Strasbourg in 2014 and in Montreux in 2015 , plus a further second and third place. In 2015 she also won the bronze medal in singles. With the team she also secured two medals at world championships and won the gold medal at the 2015 European Games in Baku . At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , she and the team, which consisted of Simona Gherman , Ana Maria Popescu and Loredana Dinu in addition to Pop , reached the final against China after victories against the United States and Russia , which won 44:38 has been. In the individual, she took 33rd place.

After winning the Olympic Games, Pop was made an honorary citizen of Bucharest . She is married to the Romanian sword fencer Adrian Pop.
