Valérie Gisèle Angèle Barlois-Mevel-Leroux (born May 28, 1969 in Melun ) is a former French sword fencer . She is an Olympic champion and became world champion.

successes

Valérie Barlois won several medals with the team at world championships . She won silver with her in Budapest in 1991 and in The Hague in 1995, and bronze in Cape Town in 1997 . In La Chaux-de-Fonds , she finally became world champion with the team in 1998 . She had previously participated in the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta and won a medal in both individual and team competition. In the individual, she lost to her compatriot Laura Flessel-Colovic in the final and thus received the silver medal. With the team she was also in the final after victories over Cuba and Russia , which was won against Italy with 45:33. In addition to Barlois, Laura Flessel-Colovic and Sophie Moressée-Pichot became Olympic champions . After her Olympic victory she was made a Knight of the Legion of Honor . At the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000 , Barlois finished fifth in the individual and with the team.

Life

Barlois has a son (* 2000) and divorced in 2001. In 2006 she married Robert Leroux , who also won an Olympic medal in epee fencing.
